Magmatic
Magmatic is Mattia — poet, musician and engineer, living in Los Angeles, in Frogtown.
His first book, Ý Lan, a collection of quartine — Italian quatrains — came out in 2018 with FusibiliaLibri in Rome, and was a finalist for the Premio Camaiore Proposta and the Premio Mario Luzi.
Then writing and playing came together as video poetry: short poems in Italian with the English beside them, set to his own music. Some are calligrams — words laid out as an image, like the petals at the end of Loto.
And out onto the street: busking and pop-up sets on the orange bridge over the LA River, since 2023.
